Mario is PhD in Applied Economics (University of Vigo,
2006). Mario has been post-doctoral research fellow at the IPP-CCHS-CSIC
(Institute for Public Goods and Policies, Centre of Human and Social Sciences,
Spanish National Research Council, 2008) and at the ECSEN-UPM (Research Group "Economics for a Sustainable Environment”, Technical University of
Madrid, 2008-2009). He has participated in several research projects funded by national as
well as by private companies and leads fundamental research in environmental
valuation.
He has been at the National Institute for Agriculture and Food Research and Technology (INIA) since 2009, where he is currently
Research Fellow at the Forest Research Centre (CIFOR). His research areas
fall within the fields of forest economics and environmental economics:
environmental valuation and sustainable management of natural resources. His work has been presented at 12 Spanish conferences and 11 international conferences on Environmental Economics, Forestry, Agricultural Economics, and Economic Policy. He
is author of several publications, including articles in peer-reviewed
journals, 3 books, 7 chapters in edited volumes; and is required as referee for several journals.
